While every car is different, most should have their oil changed every 3,000 miles or three months. Oil changes are typically required every 6,000 miles or every six months for a new vehicle. Please refer to your owner’s manual for specific instructions. If your vehicle is older, you should consider using an oil with a high mileage rating.

  • The air valve cap on the tire should be removed and placed somewhere that will not be lost.
  • The tire gauge should be pressed against the open valve stem for a few seconds. A hiss of air is normal.
  • Check the air pressure gauge. A manual gauge will have a dial that indicates the pressure or a bar that indicates how far the pressure has been pushed out. On a digital tire gauge, the pressure will be displayed on the screen.
  • The recommended tire pressure should be compared to this number.
  • The air valve cap on the tire should be replaced. It is recommended that you hold off on this step if the air pressure needs to be adjusted.

When your tires are well maintained, you will be able to travel for tens of thousands of miles without experiencing any problems.

It is possible that tires will not wear evenly if they are not rotated. In front-wheel drive vehicles, the front tires play a greater role in braking, and they wear out more rapidly because they must claw for traction.

Regardless of the specific cause, it is imperative to stop an oil leak as soon as possible, so make sure you bring your vehicle to an auto garage as soon as possible. As a result of the oil leak, you may smell burnt oil, see blue smoke, and ultimately have major engine damage. Taking action on this matter should not be delayed.
